Java Programming Language Introduction
Java Programming Language Introduction
Sun Microsystems developed the Java programming language.
James Gosling launched in 1995 as a core component of Sun Microsystems' Java platform (Java 1.0 [J2SE]).
Java SE 8 is the latest Java Standard Edition. it is suited for various types of platforms.
Example platforms are J2EE for Enterprise Applications, J2ME for Mobile Applications.
Java SE, Java EE, and Java ME new J2 versions.
Java is promised to be Write Once, Run Anywhere.
Java is the most popular programming language, initiated in 1995.
It is launched by Oracle, unofficially, more than 3 billion devices run Java.
The language was firstly called ‘Oak’ after an oak tree that stood outside Gosling's office, also went by the name ‘Green’ and was finally renamed as Java, from a list of random words.
On 13 November 2006, Sun released much of Java as free and open-source software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL).
On 8 May 2007, Sun finished the process, making all of Java's core code free and open-source.
Uses of Java programming language
Mobile applications (especially Android apps)
Desktop applications
Web applications
Web servers and application servers
Games
Database connection.
How does Java programming language run?
Java works on different platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, Raspberry Pi, etc.)
It is one of the most popular programming languages in the world
It is easy to learn and simple to use
It is open-source and free
It is secure, fast, and powerful
It has huge community support (tens of millions of developers)
Java is an object-oriented language that gives a clear structure to programs and allows code to be reused, lowering development costs
As Java is close to C++ and C#, it makes it easy for programmers to switch to Java or vice versa
