What is an IDOC in SAP ABAP ?

What is an IDOC in SAP ABAP ? What is an IDOC? IDOC is simply a data container used to exchange information between any two processes that can understand the syntax and semantics of the data. In other words, an IDOC is like a data file with a specified format which is exchanged between 2 systems which know how to interpret that data. IDOC stands for " Intermediate Document" When we execute an outbound ALE or EDI Process, an IDOC is created. In the SAP System, I DOCs are stored in database. Every IDOC has a unique number(within a client). In this tutorial you will learn: What is an IDOC? Structure of an IDOC IDOC Types What is a Segment? What is Extension IDOC type? IDOC Views Partner Profiles Port The Outbound Process The Inbound Process Key Features IDOCs are independent of the sending and receiving systems.(SAP-to-SAP as well as Non-SAP) IDOCs are based on EDI standards, ANSI ASC X12 and EDIFACT. In a case of any conflict in data ...

Difference Between ALE and EDI in SAP ABAP

Difference Between ALE and EDI in SAP ABAP The main difference between ALE and EDI is ALE used for internal communications within the SAP Environment and EDI is meant for external communications that is communicating with Non-systems. ALE(Application Link Enabling): ALE is technology for SAP ,is used to transfer data between SAP systems . ALE is used to support integrated processes across several SAP systems . ALE includes controlled exchange of data messages guarantying  data consistency across loosely coupled applications. ALE consists three layers which are Application Services  , Distribution Services and Communication Services. ALE provides a distributed and fully integrated R/3 system. Each application is self-capable. The use of self-capable system implies a certain measure of data redundancy.Hence data has to be both distributed and synchronized. ALE uses an IDOC format to exchange data between systems, both participating systems should ...

ALE IDOC Status Codes in SAP ABAP

ALE IDOC Status Codes in SAP ABAP when you are developing ALE IDOC's or sending IDOC's between two systems ,we should know the status of Idoc's ,to know which ,status codes are available ,based on the status code ,we can know the where is the idoc process is going on ,kepping this requirement in my mind ,here i am sharing all codes.this post will helpful for SAP ABAP freshers as well as experienced.  1)Control Records 2)Data Records 3)Status Records Control Record : Contains information about the  Sender id, Receiver id, Sender Port,Receiver Port,Idoc Type,Message Type. Data Record :  Containing the message to be Exchanged in multiple Records. Status Records :  Containing the Status of Idoc Exchanged at various Stages.                                 Each Record corresponds to one Stages.                    ...

SAP ABAP ALE IDoc Interview Questions and Answers[IDoc's]

SAP ABAP ALE IDoc Interview Questions and Answers[IDoc's] Here, I am sharing the very important ALE/IDoc interview questions faced in several interviews at different MNC companies. I hope these questions will help you to crack any SAP ABAP Interview. What is an ALE? ALE stands for Application Link Enabling which links two systems. ALE is a technology that can enable the exchange of data between two different Systems ( Sap - Sap OR Sap - Non Sap). ALE architecture has the  3 layers :  Application layer related to the application data ( SD, MM, FI, or data for any SAP application ).  The distribution layer decides to whom should the data generated by the application layer has to be distributed Communication layer responsible for delivering the Idoc to the receiving system and communicates to the receiving system via RFC, File ports, FTP or TCP/IP, etc. ALE uses IDoc as a vehicle to transfer data between two systems. What are the Advantages...

IDOC in SAP ABAP

What is an IDOC in SAP ABAP What is a IDOC? Idoc in SAP ABAP is important tool which is used to exchange docs between two different process that modules in the idoc format. In this lesson ,we are going to learn what is an idoc and its definition and how to create idoc and importand idoc transactions An IDoc is simply a data container that is used to exchange information between any two processes that can understand the syntax and semantics of the data. IDoc is not a process.      IDocs are stored in the database.      In the SAP system, IDocs are stored in database tables.      IDocs are independent of the sending and receiving systems.      IDocs are independent of the direction of data exchange. What is an EDI and ALE:  IDocs are text encoded documents with a rigid structure that are used to exchange data between R/3 and a foreign system. Therefore an IDoc data exchange is always an asynchronous pro...
