It is impossible to say How long it will take to learn ABAP.ABAP is like an ocean you can learn the basics within 2 or 3 months, but each requirement will be challenging in ABAP coding as each lock has a different key. You can learn the syntax of programming easily, but writing the logic programming and using it practically, can take time.

But you probably do not have much time and I do not think you were looking for that answer.
ABAP is still being developed, so you will have to learn SAP ABAP constantly. But if I'm talking about learning ABAP on a decent level (you have enough knowledge + skills to apply for an ABAP job) then we can do some imaginary effort estimates to learn ABAP.
Estimates of efforts still depend and I will provide my ideas of what works worst for what works best for learning ABAP effectively from my perspective.
If you have already programmed in different programming languages + you have good analytical thinking, then:
If you learn by reading books, BLOG articles, ..: it depends on the source of information you receive, but in general it is the longest way to learn ABAP.
If you watch YouTube practice videos: it's much better because you watch real-time live shows but still, you spend a lot of time watching these videos and it can end up being messy because YT's many channels often do not have your videos structured instruction along the way, to bring the new ABAP learners from the beginning to a reasonable end
Is SAP ABAP Easy or Hard?
SAP ABAP language is an easy language if you understand the functions of code.
If you do regular ONLINE TRAINING (for example, see on Udemy.com): this is much better because you have structured video tutorials (+ often with additional learning materials).
If you do ONLINE TRAINING WITH MENTORING (for example, here learn Practice Practices in SAP / ABAP for Beginners for FREE): this is a very efficient way because in addition to regular training you get:
practical skills because you are forced into such training to code (for example, you should implement a small project).
ideally, you have access to the student community where you can ask your questions directly to people at their learning level
If you get stuck, you will have access to the ABAP expert who can help you move much faster
If you find junior ABAP work without experience: if you find this job, it is the best and fastest way to learn ABAP. If you have this option, go ahead.

The duration of understanding the ABAP basics should be approximately 40 hours, after which you can proceed with other techniques and the duration may vary according to your understanding.
Career Guidance on SAP ABAP
It depends on your skill sets. If you are already programming, you should be well aware of programming techniques and logical methods. This makes it easier to learn ABAP. Knowledge of SQL programming is a great advantage. With this knowledge, you should be able to start the basic ABAP programming in less than a week.Otherwise, if you are a beginner in programming this can take at least 4 to 6 weeks to basic ABAP depending on several factors.
I would recommend instructor training instead of self-learning because you need to better understand the concepts. From my personal experience, I tried to teach myself using study materials available on the internet for months, but I only learned after I hired a tutor. This may differ for other people. Just a personal opinion :)
As others have mentioned, if you know SQL, then you can learn very easily. You can probably start programming in a week, but if the order to be productive in a project will require about a month at least (with constant supervision).
It also depends on your exposure to SAP or any other ERP. This exposure can help you understand many things, such as what the SAP GUI is, what transactions are, how the data is stored, and these things.
The main challenge with SAP ABAP is that there are so many built-in features or so many APIs in the form of data elements, domains, function modules, classes, smart forms, PDF forms.
SAP ABAP is evolving at a very fast pace. With HANA, much coding can now be done using CDS and Java Scripts views. If you know Java, it can help you in many ways.
You also need to understand that SAP always tries to reduce the coding effort of ABAPers, and especially in a project 90-95% of the programs to be used are just a standard.
So if you start over, I suggest you start learning very aggressively and try to understand the basic work of RICEF and then take one and try to move your knowledge to the advanced level and then take the other component.
